An impressive, modern and environmentally conscious Class Q barn conversion delivered on a tight budget, and under tight timelines. As a conversion project, it is a perfect example of what can be achieved when maintaining the fabric of a disused agricultural building. The project demonstrates:

How it’s possible to insulate a conversion to new build standards while still addressing the compromises of a conversion project.

How converting an older building need not mean compromising on modern features and technology.

How the use of renewable heating/cooling systems and implementing solar generation, battery storage and smart home technology you can become largely self-sufficient.
While balancing budgets, the thermal properties of insulation, glazing and materials, and the inclusion of renewable energy and heating solutions, the project was able to achieve a final EPC rating of 95A. Real care and attention was taken to maximise the usable space within the building, ensuring that the insulation choices provided high thermal efficiency without compromising on floor levels and ceiling heights providing maximum usable first floor space – achieving 268 square metres of floor space from the 144 square metre footprint.
